Atwood, Kansas (June 5, 2026)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Atwood Lodge No. 164 to donate $2,000 to Ludell Renew and Revitalize. The group is focused on renewing the Ludell Schoolhouse, which was originally built in 1936.

Founded in 1895, Atwood Lodge No. 164 is a Kansas Masonic Lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has 43 active members and supports various community organizations and events, including the Atwood WANA Program, the Atwood City Library, the local community theater and youth center, Rawlins County Schools, the Rawlins County Health Center, and Rod Run Fireworks. The Brothers at Atwood Lodge No. 164 have also hosted a monthly community dinner for the past 15 years and regularly sponsor the Annual Christmas Light Parade.

“Ludell is a small community near Atwood that has a vibrant history,” said Atwood Lodge No. 164 Secretary Dave Brown. “The Ludell Schoolhouse is used by many local groups as a gathering place, and Ludell Renew and Revitalize has done a great job of updating the facility and keeping the history alive.”

This year, to support community renewal efforts, the Brothers at Atwood Lodge No. 164 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to donate $2,000 to Ludell Renew and Revitalize. The organization is dedicated to restoring the original Ludell Schoolhouse, a popular venue for community events. All donated funds will help with updates, including painting, new flooring, lighting installation, landscaping, and other areas where assistance is needed. A formal donation announcement will take place in the coming weeks.
