Hugoton, Kansas (September 4, 2025)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Hugoton Lodge No. 406 to award a $5,000 Local Community Grant to High Plains Theatre.
The theatre began as a dilapidated building and, through an aggressive and ambitious renovation campaign, now serves as a local venue for movies, concerts, talent shows, community events, and more. Friends and donors to this 501(c)(3) have provided significant financial contributions, dedicated patronage, and hundreds of hours of donated labor to realize the dream.
“High Plains Theatre has evolved over the last five years, becoming a beacon of creativity, hope, and providing a healthy social environment in our community,” said President Debbie Nordling. “In addition to first-run movies, we have been able to host a wide variety of events, which has opened opportunities for patrons, young and old.”
As part of its inaugural Local Community Grants program, the Kansas Masonic Foundation, in collaboration with Hugoton Lodge No. 406, has decided to award a $5,000 grant to High Plains Theatre. The grant money will be applied toward a dedicated public address (PA) system, which will replace borrowed equipment that is no longer available. An up-to-date events sound system will also allow the theatre to book a greater variety of artists to perform at the venue, bringing meaningful and life-enriching entertainment to the community.
