Americus Lodge No. 109 Supports Local First Responders Through Community Grant Program

Americus Lodge No. 109

Admire, Kansas (August 28, 2025)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Americus Lodge No. 109 to award a $5,000 Local Community Grant to Lyon County Fire District No. 2. This volunteer organization provides vital, life-protecting services from two fire stations.

The rural fire district covers approximately 153 miles of northern Lyon County, Kansas. A team of 25 trained and dedicated volunteers responds to fires, accidents, medical calls, and natural disasters, along with providing mutual aid for other fire districts.

“Being there for our community and others is very important to each of our members,” said Linda Edmunds, representing the receiving organization. “In addition to fire and emergency response, we provide educational programs for children, help with the Fourth of July celebration, and work in conjunction with the local church on community projects.”

This year, as a part of its inaugural Local Community Grants program, the Kansas Masonic Foundation, in collaboration with Americus Lodge No. 109, has decided to award a $5,000 grant to Lyon County Fire District No. 2. The funding will allow the district to purchase needed fire gear, radios, and fire suppressant equipment. The organization also plans to continue its educational efforts within the community, helping prevent fires and improving safety for residents.
