Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Masonic Lodge With Theatre Donation

Hugoton, Kansas (June 6, 2025)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Hugoton Lodge No. 406 to donate $800 to the High Plains Theatre, a local performing arts and entertainment hub.

Founded in 1914, Hugoton Lodge No. 406 is the oldest active chartered fraternal organization in Stevens County and is dedicated to philanthropy within the community. This Kansas Masonic lodge has 37 active members who support various local causes. Some of its most notable contributions include donating over $16,500 to Project Hope and Helping Hands, providing over $63,000 in scholarships to local high school graduates, contributing $1,000 to the local Shop-With-A-Cop program, organizing free cancer screenings for over 700 individuals in Southwest Kansas, participating in the Kansas PRIDE Program, and helping with numerous other community events and fundraisers. Their lodge has also sponsored 65 musicians at the Kansas Masonic All-State Marching Band Camp, in addition to contributing over $8,400 to local library-sponsored summer reading programs.

“This local not-for-profit organization has purchased and renovated the vacant theater building to offer a place for the performing arts to shine and provide entertainment within our community,” said Hugoton Lodge No. 406 Chaplain David Eckert. “This has been a major improvement for our community and revitalized a part of our downtown center. Now, families don’t have to travel over 70 miles to watch movies, and there is an incentive to keep money local!”

Continuing with their support of the local community, the Brothers at Hugoton Lodge No. 406 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to donate $800 to the High Plains Theatre. The High Plains Theatre provides a venue for local families to enjoy movies and offers safe summer entertainment to the community’s youth. All funds donated will go toward sponsoring “Summer Kid Movies” every Wednesday night throughout the summer (nine weeks total). A formal donation presentation will be made in the coming weeks.
