Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Masonic Lodge With After Prom Donation

Hugoton, Kansas (March 7, 2025)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Hugoton Lodge No. 406 to donate $700 to the Hugoton After Prom Committee.

Founded in 1914, Hugoton Lodge No. 406 is the oldest active chartered fraternal organization in Stevens County and is dedicated to philanthropy within the community. This Kansas Masonic lodge has nearly 40 members that support various local causes, including donating over $16,500 to Project Hope and Helping Hands, providing over $59,000 in scholarships to local high school graduates, contributing $1,000 to the local Shop-With-A-Cop program, organizing free cancer screenings for over 700 individuals in Southwest Kansas, participating in the Kansas PRIDE Program, and helping with numerous other community events and fundraisers. Their lodge has also sponsored 65 musicians at the Kansas Masonic All-State Marching Band Camp, in addition to helping organize free hearing screenings in conjunction with Fort Hays State University.

“The After Prom Committee was created to help keep our young people from over-celebrating after Prom,” said Hugoton Lodge No. 406 Past Master David Eckert. “Drinking and driving accidents have caused so much grief in local communities all across the United States—the National Highway Safety Council has provided staggering numbers in relation to youth highway deaths and injuries during the end of the year near graduation. If this program saves even one life, it is well worth every dollar!”

Continuing with their support of the local community, the Brothers at Hugoton Lodge No. 406 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to donate $700 to the Hugoton After Prom Committee. The organization offers party-goers a safe and comfortable place to gather after Prom and works to keep high school students and their families safe and off the roads. The lodge Brothers have committed themselves to purchasing a PlayStation 5, fully equipped with the latest games, to be offered as a prize for a lucky student who stays for the entire duration of the party. A formal donation presentation will take place in the coming weeks.
