Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Relief Donation

Shawnee Mission, Kansas (October 20, 2023)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefitting Kansas communities, has partnered with John H. Atwood Lodge No. 461 to donate $250 to Heart to Heart International, an organization seeking to improve healthcare access around the world and aid under-resourced communities in disaster situations.

Founded in 2017, John H. Atwood Lodge No. 461 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has 40 members and heavily supports the local community by contributing to area food and clothing banks. The Brothers at John H. Atwood Lodge No. 461 also work with other Masonic groups to provide community activities that are both fun and developmentally appropriate for all involved. 

“Our lodge is focused on giving members an opportunity to be involved in the community, in Masonic activities, and in a friendly and fun environment,” said John H. Atwood Lodge No. 461 Secretary Herbert Merrick. “The goal is to have an impact and enjoy doing it, which is why we have decided to support Heart to Heart International.”

Continuing with their support of the local community, the Brothers at John H. Atwood Lodge No. 461 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $250 to Heart to Heart International. This is a local Kansas City organization that has a mission in the community, across the nation and throughout the world. Following the recent events in the Middle East, they appealed for support to respond to the health and medical needs of the Israeli and Palestinian people after surprise attacks by Hamas on Israel have resulted in a devastating wave of intense fighting and counterattacks across the region. In a time of such a heart-wrenching humanitarian crisis, Heart to Heart International remains committed to its mission to provide essential assistance to those affected. The funds donated will help send relief supplies to the region, and a formal donation announcement will take place in the coming weeks.
