Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Chamber of Commerce Donation

Nickerson, Kansas (July 7, 2023)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefitting Kansas communities, has partnered with Nickerson Lodge No. 43 to donate $300 to the Nickerson Kansas Chamber of Commerce, a small group of local Nickerson residents reinvesting their time and talent toward creating a better community for all individuals.

Founded in 1882, Nickerson Lodge No. 43 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has 35 members and supports the community through acts of service, including helping start the Nickerson Community Pride Association, providing supplemental funds for multiple local funerals, rebuilding the playground in City Park, filling food baskets for families in need, providing gifts for less fortunate families, and participating in city-wide events such as Klear Nearly Days and Trunk or Treat. The lodge has previously donated to the Nickerson Kansas Chamber of Commerce to help with different events throughout the year and continues to support the organization with providing recreational community activities.

“It is a point of pride within our lodge that we are essentially embedded in our community. Our goal is to take care of the community that has so graciously taken us in with open arms over the last few years,” said Nickerson Lodge No. 43 Secretary Leo Ritter. “The Chamber of Commerce hosted the fireworks display for the community of Nickerson on the 4th of July and contacted us asking if we wanted to donate to fund the production this year. We decided it would benefit the community to do so.”

This year, the Brothers at Nickerson Lodge No. 43 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $300 to the Nickerson Kansas Chamber of Commerce in Reno County, Kansas. The Chamber of Commerce unites businesses in the community that support the interests of its members, in turn benefitting the entire community. The lodge’s previous contributions have consisted of volunteering time to help fill gift and food baskets, but this year will mark the Brothers’ first monetary donation to the organization. The funds donated helped provide a fireworks display at the community 4th of July celebration, benefitting over 500 community members.
