Masonic and Civil ServicesKansas Masonic Home Senior Living Center To Close in Wichita
Kansas Masonic Foundation Remains Unaffiliated With the Kansas Masonic Home
Wichita, Kansas (November 21, 2022)—The Kansas Masonic Home Senior Living Center, an organization recognized for its award-winning senior living community, will officially close its doors on December 31, 2022. The senior living center focuses on meeting residents’ personal needs while providing outstanding care and has remained one of the most recognized and established senior living communities in Kansas for the past 120 years.
While the Kansas Masons have a long history of supporting the Kansas Masonic Home, the senior living center does not carry a Masonic affiliation and is not associated with the Kansas Masonic Foundation. For many decades, the organization has operated as an independent entity, not having any affiliation with the Kansas Masonic Foundation since its opening to the general public in 1974. While the retirement facility has retained its name for historical purposes, as it was previously an orphanage supported by Kansas Masons, the new entity was eventually established to support all Wichita residents. Today, less than five percent of current residents are affiliated with Freemasonry.
Our Brothers at the Kansas Masonic Foundation are incredibly saddened to witness the closure of the Kansas Masonic Home but are continuously seeking opportunities to expand Masonic philanthropy in the fields of charitable, educational, and scientific programs. We look forward to forging new future partnerships and are excited to see what 2023 has in store for Freemasonry and our Kansas communities!
