Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Meals on Wheels Donation

Lawrence, Kansas (September 23, 2022)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Acacia Lodge No. 9 to donate $1,500 to Meals on Wheels, an organization that delivers meals to elderly and disabled members of the community.

Founded in 1867, Acacia Lodge No. 9 is a Kansas Masonic Lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has over 40 members and is heavily involved in local community service, and supports various organizations, including donating to the Ballard Center to help provide quality and affordable early education and basic life assistance to families and individuals in need. The lodge also supports Jubilee Cafe, Just Food, the Lawrence Community Shelter, the Salvation Army, Peaslee Tech, and the local Lawrence Police Blue Santa Program, an organization providing gifts and food to less fortunate families during the holidays. In 2021 alone, the Brothers at Acacia Lodge No. 9 donated $1,000 to 10 different organizations in Lawrence, totaling $10,000 overall.

“Acacia Lodge No. 9 is a lodge of effort, adaptation, generosity, friendship, and growth. We are best known for our philanthropic work to our community,” said Acacia Lodge No. 9 Worshipful Master Dylan Warrington. “We are actively working to better ourselves, our work, our lodge, and our community and grow in membership and ritualistic work.”

To further their mission of growing their ritualistic work and community philanthropy, the Brothers at Acacia Lodge No. 9 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $1,500 to Meals on Wheels. Since 1970, the entirely volunteer-run organization has provided meals to elderly and disabled individuals in the community, regardless of race, color or creed, in order to help them remain independent in their own homes as long as possible. While the Brothers have consistently donated to the organization over the past three years, this particular donation is being made in honor of the lodge’s late Brother, Tom Wilkerson, a former volunteer and Board Member of the Lawrence Meals on Wheels.

The funds donated by Acacia Lodge No. 9, in collaboration with the Kansas Masonic Foundation, will help purchase necessary food items to provide additional meals to community members. On Friday, September 23, a formal donation announcement will take place at the organization’s physical location in Lawrence, Kansas.
