Social WelfareWyandotte Lodge No. 3 Donates $5,000 to Hillcrest Transitional Housing

Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Transitional Housing Donation

Kansas City, Kansas (August 19, 2022)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 to donate $5,000 to Hillcrest Transitional Housing, an organization helping solve homelessness by encouraging people to reclaim their life situations and regain their self-sufficiency.

Founded in 1856, Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has nearly 200 members and supports various community organizations, including the Robert’s House, the Sunflower House, Cross-Lines, the local fire department, and the local police department. The Brothers at Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 also regularly assist with community blood drives and cancer screenings for county residents, in addition to their contributions to KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc.

“Hillcrest Transitional Housing is a transitional housing program providing a Christian environment that helps homeless families become self-supportive, self-reliant contributors to society,” said Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 Secretary Wayne Rector. “Our Brothers feel that this organization helps those in our community that need the most help.”

To further their mission of assisting others in the community, the Brothers at Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to donate $5,000 to Hillcrest Transitional Housing. Unlike other organizations focused on one-time or emergency care, Hillcrest Transitionary Housing’s primary objective is to move clients from homelessness to self-sufficiency by addressing the total life situation of the homeless families they serve. Additionally, they offer intensive case management for residents and advocate for action on homelessness, poverty, affordable housing, and hunger. The funds donated will continue to help support homelessness in the area, and a formal donation announcement will take place on Friday, September 2, 2022, at 6:30 PM at the Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 Family Dinner.
