Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Honor Flight Donation
LeRoy, Kansas (March 25, 2022)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Neosho Lodge No. 27 to donate $7,250 to the Southern Coffey County Honor Flight Program. The organization facilitates flights for United States veterans to visit various memorials at the nation’s capital.
Founded in 1859, Neosho Lodge No. 27 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has over 50 members and is heavily involved in the local community, collaborating with the LeRoy Homecoming Committee, selling Kansas Masonic Foundation raffle tickets, and assisting with the Masonic Essay Contest, High School Marching Band Camp, and various scholarship programs. The lodge also hosts two Southern Coffey County Scholarship Bake Sales each year to replenish their longstanding scholarship fund.
“Our Lodge is very community-minded, especially when it comes to our youth,” said Neosho Lodge No. 27 Secretary Don Meats. “We take Freemasonry seriously, but we have a lot of fun too. We care about each other, check in on one another, pray for one another, and help each other out in times of need.”
Furthering their mission of supporting local organizations and community members, the Brothers at Neosho Lodge No. 27 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to donate $7,250 to the Southern Coffey County Honor Flight Program. The SCC Honor Flight Program, which has sent over 550 veterans to Washington D.C., facilitates visits to the nation’s capital for veterans all across the state of Kansas. The two-day tour includes visits to various veteran memorials around the city in addition to other landmarks. Guardians for the trip are selected from the Southern Coffey County student body and can build lifelong relationships with local veterans. Because the organization operates solely on generous donations from organizations like Neosho Lodge No. 27, they can pay all operating expenses, including plane tickets, bus rentals, hotel rooms, food, hats, and other necessary items. A formal donation announcement will occur before the lodge’s stated meeting on April 20, 2022.
