Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Assistance Dogs Donation

Washington, Kansas (March 21, 2022)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 to donate $5,000 to Kansas Specialty Dog Services Assistance Dogs, Inc., an organization providing professionally trained guide, service, and facility dogs for people in need of canine partners.

Founded in 1856, Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has nearly 200 members and supports various community organizations, including the Robert’s House, the local fire department, and the local police department. The Brothers at Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 also regularly assist with community blood drives and cancer screenings for county residents, in addition to their contributions to KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc.

“KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc. provides guide dogs for the visually impaired, service dogs to assist individuals with physical disabilities, and facility dogs that assist professionals in the field of education, counseling, and other specialty services,” said Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 Secretary Harold Rector. “Our local Order of the Eastern Star supports this group, and we wish to help our appendant body groups with their endeavors.”

To further their mission of assisting others in the community, the Brothers at Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to donate $5,000 to KSDS Assistance Dogs, Inc. Located in Washington, Kansas, KSDS began as Kansas Specialty Dog Service and was incorporated as a nonprofit with assistance from the State of Kansas Department of Rehabilitation Services and additional support from individual donors. Their organization has celebrated over 30 years of service and has placed over 600 assistance dog teams with individuals in need of canine support. The funds donated will continue to help train assistance dogs, and a formal donation announcement will take place on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 6:30 PM at the Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 Family Dinner.
