Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Senior Center Donation

Minneapolis, Kansas (March 4, 2022)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Minneapolis Lodge No. 143 to donate $1,000 to the Golden Wheel Senior Center, an organization serving nutritious meals and helping local seniors stay healthy in their home.

Founded in 1873, Minneapolis Lodge No. 143 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has nearly 30 members and is active in the local community, including providing scholarships to local high school students, contributing to the Grand Lodge Essay Contest, and hosting cancer screenings in collaboration with the Masonic Cancer Alliance.

“Our Brothers are dedicated to leadership and community service,” said Minneapolis Lodge No. 143 Secretary James Kay. “The Golden Wheel Senior Center provides a great service for Minneapolis and surrounding towns in Ottawa County by providing meals, fellowship, and recreational activities for local senior citizens.”

To further their mission of bettering the local community, the Brothers at Minneapolis Lodge No. 143 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $1,000 to the Golden Wheel Senior Center. The organization consistently provides nutritious meals every weekday to community members over the age of 60 and offers support to help them stay healthy in their homes. The funds donated will help purchase a new stove for the center as the current kitchen stove is in need of a replacement. A formal donation announcement will take place at the next established board meeting later this month.
