Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Library Donation

Carbondale, Kansas (February 25, 2022)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Carbondale Lodge No. 70 to donate $2,000 to the Carbondale Library Foundation, a full-service library in Osage County.

Founded in 1874, Carbondale Lodge No. 70 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has nearly 50 members and is heavily involved in the local community, including providing financial support for the construction of a new community library and offering scholarships to area high school students to participate in the Annual All Masonic High School Marching Band Camp.

“Our Brothers aim to serve the Carbondale community as a whole through volunteer activities and philanthropy,” said Carbondale Lodge No. 70 Secretary Jerry Clements. “The former Carbondale Library was tucked away in a small room of a city building and was very limited in what it could provide the community. Our lodge has continued to financially support the organization to help construct a new facility and expand its programs for local youth and community members.”

To further their mission of serving the Carbondale community, the Brothers at Carbondale Lodge No. 70 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $2,000 to the Carbondale Library. The library is a member of the Northeast Kansas Library System and serves as a full-service library, offering inter-library loan service, public access computers, and Summer Reading Programs for elementary students. The donated funds will help satisfy financial obligations related to constructing a new facility. A formal donation announcement will take place on April 27, 2022, at 7:00 PM during the lodge’s regularly scheduled meeting.
