Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Kansas Masonic Lodge With Food Relief Program Donation

Florence, Kansas (February 4, 2022)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Advance Lodge No. 114 to donate $2,400 to the Florence Food Relief Program, an organization that helps distribute food to local individuals and families in need.

Founded in 1872, Advance Lodge No. 114 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has nearly 50 members and supports various local organizations and causes, including providing over $6,000 of college scholarships to local high school students, sponsoring an interview program for Center High School Juniors and Seniors, donating $1,500 to the local library, presenting the “Sunshine Girls” $1,000 to help repair the cemetery gazebo and the local Scout House, and helping with the local Chamber activities and the Florence Historical Society.

“We are devoted to the tenets of brotherly love, relief, truth, and a firm belief in a Supreme Being. We hope to provide a place for men to gather and enjoy friendships that might not have happened outside of our organization,” said Advance Lodge Secretary Les Allison. “We work to provide support for our members and for those in our community who are in need.”

To further their mission of supporting those in need, the Brothers at Advance Lodge No. 114 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $2,400 to the Florence Food Relief Program. The organization acts as a reception and distribution point for the government commodities program and accepts cash and food donations to provide to local individuals in need, with 8 to 10 community members volunteering their time to help box and deliver necessities. Because Florence is a highly economically depressed area in the state, and the recent spike of Omicron has depleted resources, government commodities will not be available for the month of February. To help combat this loss of resources, the funds donated will assist in this food and necessities effort for February. A formal donation announcement will take place later this month.
