Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With City Council Donation
Winona, Kansas (January 21, 2022)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Wallace Lodge No. 318 to donate $2,000 to the Winona City Council to help construct a city park for the local community.
Founded in 1889, Wallace Lodge No. 318 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has 26 members and is heavily involved in community service, including providing scholarships to local high school students and contributing to the local city council. This year, the Brothers at Wallace Lodge No. 318 have decided to support community efforts with building a new city park.
“We believe that everyone should give back to their town to make us better men and make our communities a better place to raise families,” said Wallace Lodge No. 318 Master Mark Smith. “The history of Winona has a great legacy rooted in westward expansion, railroading, homesteading, and the lives of all that still live here today, which is a legacy that our Brothers are still fighting to preserve!”
To help further their mission of serving the community in which they live, the Brothers at Wallace Lodge No. 318 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to donate $2,000 to the Winona City Council. The funds donated will help construct a city park on Main Street next to the lodge building, which will include walkways, fire pits, and additional gathering and play areas with landscaping. The Brothers will also be donating electricity for the necessary lights and lighting for the park shelter, in addition to helping with a mural near the park. An official donation announcement will occur on March 8, 2022, at the scheduled Wallace Lodge No. 318 meeting.
