Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Project Christmas Donation

Madison, Kansas (January 13, 2022)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefitting Kansas communities, has partnered with Madison Lodge No. 196 to donate $1,000 to Project Christmas, a local program that assists families and children in need.

Founded in 1881, Madison Lodge No. 196 is a Kansas Masonic Lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has 33 Master Masons and supports various community organizations and events, including the local Jump Start Program, the community food bank, the Verdigris Valley Foundation, the local high school marching band, and the annual Kansas Masonic Essay Contest. The lodge also performs fundraising activities such as selling raffle tickets for the Kansas Masonic Foundation’s Thunderbird Raffle.

“We encourage and support Freemasonry by self-improvement and brotherly fellowship,” said Madison Lodge No. 196 Secretary Joe Schindler. “We strive to be an asset to our community by fundraising and donating to local community programs.”

Furthering their mission of donating to local community programs, the Brothers at Madison Lodge No. 196 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to donate $1,000 to Project Christmas. This marked the lodge’s third consecutive donation to the program, which was created 25 years ago to assist children and families in need during the Holiday Season. The funds donated by the lodge in collaboration with the Kansas Masonic Foundation were used to purchase clothing and toys for children who may have not otherwise received them. Items were then wrapped and delivered to the families’ homes with a specially-curated Christmas grocery box, including all items necessary to cook Christmas dinner. An official donation announcement previously took place on December 9, 2021, to allow the organization time to purchase and deliver goods. This year alone, the program helped nine families and 38 children due to the significant contributions from members within the community.
