Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Cancer Support Group Donation
Burlington, Kansas (December 2, 2021)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Burlington Lodge No. 66 to donate $2,000 to the Coffey County Cancer Support Group, an organization that helps promote a better understanding of the disease and provide resources for cancer patients.
Founded in 1868, Burlington Lodge No. 66 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has nearly 100 members and is committed to philanthropy within the community. Some of their most notable contributions include providing scholarships to local students, delivering poinsettias to widows of former brothers, donating to the ECKAN Christmas Bureau, and supporting God’s Storehouse.
“Our Brothers define doing good charitable work by donating or assisting those in need of help, including our fellow Brothers and their widows,” said Burlington Lodge No. 66 Secretary Daniel Allen. “We have been supporting the Coffey County Cancer Support Group since it was founded in 2004 and have received matching funds from the Kansas Masonic Foundation for the past nine years.”
This year, the Brothers at Burlington Lodge No. 66 continue to support the Coffey County Cancer Support Group by partnering with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to donate $2,000 to the organization. Not only does the entirely volunteer-run group help promote a better understanding of the disease and increase awareness of available resources for patients and their caregivers, but since their founding, they have provided $365,000 to assist area residents during treatment. The funds donated by the lodge in collaboration with the Kansas Masonic Foundation will go toward helping local patients with the costs of treatment and will be presented on December 10, 2021, at the lodge’s next meeting.
