Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Kaden’s Closet Donation
Highland, Kansas (November 24, 2021)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Smithton Lodge No. 1 to donate $1,000 to the Kaden’s Closet, an organization that provides services and necessities to foster and adoptive children within the local community.
Founded in 1856, Smithton Lodge No. 1 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has nearly 50 members and supports numerous local charities, including providing 10 scholarships to local students annually, donating to local youth athletic programs, supporting the Doniphan County Sheriff’s Department, and contributing to the Kansas Masonic Foundation. The lodge also consistently lends the lower part of its building to the Doniphan County Library free of charge and enjoys looking for new opportunities to provide support throughout the community.
“Our Brothers define doing good charitable work by helping those within the community in which we live,” said Smithton Lodge No. 1 Secretary Rocky Ruhnke. “We have regularly donated to Kaden’s Closet in the past, contributing close to $500 annually for the past three to four years.”
Continuing with their support of Kaden’s Closet, the Brothers at Smithton Lodge No. 1 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $1,000 to Kaden’s Closet this year, which will be used to purchase supplies for those in need. The organization is entirely volunteer-run and exists to provide essentials to adoptive children or children in foster homes. Foster and adoptive families are invited to “shop” Kaden’s Closet free of charge and choose from a wide selection of donated items needed to help support their families. A formal donation announcement recently took place on November 18, 2021.
