Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Masonic Lodge With Show Choir Donation

Hugoton, Kansas (November 19, 2021)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Hugoton Lodge No. 406 to donate $500 to the Hugoton High School Show Choir, an organization that educates and encourages excellence in musical education and provides students with life experiences in the performing arts.

Founded in 1914, Hugoton Lodge #406 is the oldest active chartered fraternal organization in Stevens County and is dedicated to philanthropy within the community. This Kansas Masonic lodge has 40 members that support various local causes, including donating over $10,000 to Project Hope and Helping Hands, providing over $45,000 in scholarships to local high school graduates, contributing $1,000 to the local Shop-With-A-Cop program, organizing free cancer screenings for over 700 individuals in Southwest Kansas, participating in the Kansas PRIDE Program, and helping with numerous other community events and fundraisers. Their lodge has also contributed to the local high school’s Project After Prom Committee for the past eight years.

“The Brothers at Hugoton Lodge No. 406 have always been supporters of our youth and education programs. For over 30 years, our lodge has offered local scholarships to area high school graduates in addition to local cash prizes for the Masonic Essay Contest and sponsoring over 47 students to the Kansas Masonic All-State Marching Band Camp,” said Hugoton Lodge No. 406 Chaplain David Eckert. “Six years ago, a former Kansas State University singer, Mrs. Beesley, was hired to begin a music program comprised of students who volunteered their Sunday afternoons to music practice. After steady growth, the music program was offered as a class within the local high school and has become an outstanding group of young people looking to refine their talents.”

Continuing with their support of local youth and educational programs, the Brothers at Hugoton Lodge No. 406 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to donate $500 to the Hugoton High School Show Choir. The donation will help fund the students’ upcoming performance trip to Branson, Missouri, where they will perform on the professional stages of The Sight & Sound Theaters. A formal donation announcement will occur later this year at Hugoton High School before the organization’s trip to Branson.
