Kansas Masonic Lodge Donates Building to Local Law Enforcement

Silver Lake, Kansas (September 22, 2021)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefitting Kansas communities, has partnered with Lake Lodge No. 50 to donate their current building to the Silver Lake Police Department in Shawnee County, Kansas. The organization is in need of additional space for its department to grow and operate effectively.

Established in 1882, Lake Lodge No. 50 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has 31 members and supports various community organizations and events, including supporting the local school lunch program run by the Methodist Church, which aimed to provide children with lunch throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. They have also made previous contributions to the local public library in an attempt to better the community in which they live.

“The Brothers at Lake Lodge No. 50 define doing good charitable work by always making sure our giving of resources benefits our entire community,” said Lake Lodge No. 50 Worshipful Master Mark Reeder.

To achieve this goal, the Brothers at Lake Lodge No. 50 have decided to donate their current building to the Silver Lake Police Department in Shawnee County. The building, which has an appraised value of $299,670, has only been used consistently twice a month for lodge meetings but will now serve as the new home of the Silver Lake Police Department. The Police Department currently operates in a small building located under the water tower just west of City Hall, but this new building will allow for the department to grow and have a sufficient amount of space to operate effectively. Because Lake Lodge No. 50 has retained its rights to host bi-monthly meetings in the building, this great gesture will continue to help various organizations within the community in which they live. The Brothers at Lake Lodge No. 50 officially handed over the building keys to the local Chief of Police on September 16, 2021.
