Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Fire Department Donation
Newton, Kansas (September 2, 2021)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Newton Lodge No. 142 to donate $200 to the Newton Fire Department, a department providing fire protection to the cities of Newton and North Newton, as well as the townships of Darlington, Macon, and Newton.
Founded in 1873, Newton Lodge No. 142 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has nearly 200 members and is committed to supporting activities and projects in the local community. Their most notable contributions include supporting the community food bank, the Salvation Army Thanksgiving and Christmas meals programs, and distributing food during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. The Brothers have also delivered food to elderly community members, aided in the Police Department’s distribution of Christmas toys to needy families, and donated to the local Kids 4 Kids program.
“We define doing good charitable work as doing and supporting activities and projects that will make this community a better place to live,” said Newton Lodge No. 142 Secretary Gary Dix. “Which is why we have decided to donate to the Newton Fire Department, an organization that combats fires in the community and has a fire prevention program that benefits children in local schools.”
This year, the Brothers at Newton Lodge No. 142 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $200 to the Newton Fire Department’s Fir Pup safety and prevention program. The donated funds will help purchase necessary safety materials for each student to take home for emergency situations, and a formal donation presentation will be made by mail later this month.
