Donation

Paola, Kansas (August 30, 2021)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefitting Kansas communities, has partnered with Justice Lodge No. 457 to donate $1,000 to the Miami County Cancer Foundation, an organization committed to providing services to cancer patients and their families in an attempt to reduce suffering for the those impacted by cancer in the local community.

Founded in 2011, Justice Lodge No. 457 is an Affinity Lodge for current and retired Kansas law enforcement officers, judges, prosecuting attorneys, dispatchers, corrections officers, and those that deal with the criminal justice system. The lodge currently has 25 members that meet four to six times throughout the year at various locations across the state and supports different law enforcement-related causes. They have previously supported the University of Kansas Public Management Center (PMC), the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC), Kansas Concerns of Police Survivors (Kansas COPS), the University of Kansas Continuing Education Program, and the Kansas Law Enforcement Leadership Academy (LELA). In addition to their support of these Kansas-based organizations, the Brothers at Justice Lodge No. 457 have made financial contributions to the Miami County Cancer Foundation to help reduce the suffering of local patients.

“At Justice Lodge No. 457, we define doing good charitable work as assisting those in need by providing fundraising events and other venues to generate funds,” said Justice Lodge No. 457 Worshipful Master Jose Marrero. “We always try to promote the masonic ideals of friendship, morality, and brotherly love in all of our charitable undertakings.”

To continue assisting those in need and promoting brotherly love throughout the community, the Brothers at Justice Lodge No. 457 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $1,000 to the Miami County Cancer Foundation. The funds donated will help provide nutritional drinks (Boost or Ensure) to aid with nutritional needs during treatment, as well as gas cards to assist with transportation, grocery cards to aid in nutritional welfare, medical equipment such as hospital beds, shower benches, and wheelchairs, and soft goods such as wigs and blankets. In addition to these specific items, the foundation also provides resource assistance to patients in Miami County, including Paola, Louisburg, South Spring Hill, and Osawatomie. On September 7, 2021, a formal donation announcement will occur at 907 North Pearl Street, Suite 9, Paola, Kansas 66071.
