Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge with Marysville Cemetery Flag Project
Marysville, Kansas (June 28, 2021)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Marysville Lodge No. 91 to donate $2,500 to the Marysville Cemetery Flag Project, an organization promoting events throughout the community to honor veterans who have passed.
Founded in 1870, Marysville Lodge No. 91 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has almost 100 members and supports the community through acts of service, including hosting local cancer screenings for community members, supporting local town projects such as funding community entrance signs and new bleachers for community baseball fields, and sponsoring local recreation league sports teams. This year will mark the lodge’s first donation to the Marysville Cemetery Flag Project as it aims to better the local community and its citizens.
“Marysville has been organizing a cemetery flag project for the last 75 years,” said Marysville Lodge No. 91 Secretary Kevin Throm. “This project makes the cemetery entryways awe-inspiring for visitors walking or driving under the 100 flags, all in neat rows and spaced apart.“
This year, the Brothers at Marysville Lodge No. 91 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $2,500 to the Marysville Cemetery Flag Project, a special project that many local veterans and lodge members help with each year. The donation will help purchase new 3-inch steel flag poles with halyards to raise and lower the flags. These poles will be capable of being displayed more frequently throughout the year and will replace the current aluminum poles that cannot endure harsh weather conditions. A formal donation announcement will be made at a stated lodge committee meeting later in the year.
