Community DevelopmentSharon Springs Lodge No. 417 Donates $1,560 to the Melvin O Kuder Senior Center

Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Community Senior Center Donation

Tribune, Kansas (June 1, 2021)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Sharon Springs Lodge No. 417 to donate $1,560 to the Melvin O Kuder Senior Center, a local community senior center located in Greeley County.

Founded in 1917, Sharon Springs Lodge No. 417 has 26 members dedicated to philanthropy within the community. This Kansas Masonic Lodge attempts to assist needy or worthwhile individuals and organizations in improving the quality of life in the local community through distributing Christmas “widows food baskets,” participating in the annual Masonic Essay Contest, sending all third graders in the county to the Salina Shrine Circus, and constructing an outdoor basketball court at the local park. The lodge also provides free watermelon slices to visitors and guests at the annual Greeley County Fair barbecue and has previously provided snow removal services for widows in the area during inclement weather. While the lodge is highly active in the local community, this year will mark the Brothers’ first donation to the Melvin O Kuder Senior Center to help maintain good health among community members.

“The Melvin O Kuder Senior Center is looking to purchase outdoor fitness equipment to be installed in the city of Tribune for all individuals in the community, regardless of age,” said Sharon Springs Lodge No. 417 Secretary Allan Hurlburt. “This equipment will help the community maintain good health by encouraging walking and exercising on sanctioned outdoor fitness equipment.”

To further their mission of improving the local community, the Brothers at Sharon Springs Lodge No. 417 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $1,560 to the Melvin O Kuder Senior Center in Tribune. The funds donated will be used to purchase outdoor fitness equipment, while volunteers will help install the equipment to the manufacturer’s specifications. A formal donation announcement will take place in the coming weeks.
