Kansas Masonic Foundation Supports Local Kansas Masonic Lodge With Pet Rescue Donation
Highland, Kansas (April 20, 2021)—The Kansas Masonic Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities, has partnered with Smithton Lodge No. 1 to donate $1,000 to the local Doniphan County Pet Rescue, an organization dedicated to helping pets in need by providing shelter, adoption services, spay and neuter procedures, and continued pet education.
Founded in 1856, Smithton Lodge No. 1 is a Kansas Masonic lodge dedicated to Freemasonry, the oldest surviving fraternal organization in the world. The lodge has nearly 50 members and supports numerous local charities, including providing 10 scholarships to local students annually, donating to local youth athletic programs, and contributing to the Kansas Masonic Foundation. The lodge also consistently lends the lower part of its building to the Doniphan County Library free of charge and enjoys looking for new opportunities to provide support throughout the community.
“Doniphan County Pet Rescue is a startup organization in our community,” said Smithton Lodge No. 1 Secretary Rocky Ruhnke. “They are doing great work with all volunteer help.”
Continuing their support of local charities, the Brothers at Smithton Lodge No. 1 have teamed up with the Kansas Masonic Foundation to provide a monetary donation of $1,000 to the newly established Doniphan County Pet Rescue. The funds will be used to build new pens, create additional housing for lost animals within the community, and further the organization’s mission of providing shelter, adoption services, continued education, spay and neuter procedures, and community outreach. A formal donation announcement will take place on May 10, 2021.
